dayna rose is an educator with over 20 years of experience. She started her career working in an alternative school and then went on to teach public middle school for 12 years. For eight years dayna led evening programs in a juvenile detention facility. After leaving the classroom, she went on to join the admin team of a community school and then coach new teachers with a focus on equitable practices. dayna has spent a number of years designing and facilitating white affinity spaces in order to create lasting change. She has led and co-led training series for schools and community based organizations in antiracist practices, culturally responsive and culturally relevant teaching, the harmful and dangerous impacts of the normalization of whiteness, and white racial and cultural awareness. dayna has also worked with white families to create actionable antiracist goals.
She currently works part-time with incredible teams at Freedom Soul Media Education Initiatives and Educators for Racial Justice. She has her BA in Urban Studies, teaching credential, and Masters in Social Justice & Equity in Education from San Francisco State University. dayna lives in Oakland with her partner and toddler.
